JETOC (Japan Chemical Industry Ecology-Toxicology & Information Center) was founded in 1978 by the members of the Japan Chemical Industry Association, with the objectives of collection and arrangement of necessary information related to safety of chemical substances and of enhancement of joint testing in this area. The organization was soon appreciated as important and officially recognized as a non-profit and independent incorporated association in 1980 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare¹⁾, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry²⁾ and the Ministry of Labour³⁾.
